Media notes: Former OSU QB Brandon Weeden featured Saturday in 'Jon Gruden's QB camp'

Apr 06, 2012 (The Oklahoman - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Weeden featured Saturday during QB camp Former OSU quarterback Brandon Weeden is featured on "Jon Gruden's QB Camp" at 5:30 p.m. Saturday on ESPN. The 30-minute show includes Gruden critiquing Weeden during a film session.

The series debuted this week with a look at the top two prospects in this year's NFL draft class, Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III. Arizona State's Brock Osweiler will be featured at 4:30 p.m. Monday on ESPNU. All the quarterbacks will be featured in a one-hour ESPN special on April 19.

Short takes -- Fox Sports Oklahoma will air a special one-hour pregame show at noon Friday before the Texas Rangers open the season against the Chicago White Sox at 1 p.m. on the network. John Rhadigan will host the pregame show from the "Rangers Live" studio set in the new Captain Morgan Club in center field. Dana Larson, Emily Jones and Jim Knox will contribute reports from the field where 13 members of the first Rangers team from 1972 will be part of the first-pitch ceremony to celebrate the club's 40th anniversary in Texas. Dave Barnett and Tom Grieve return to call the games with Knox serving as a roving reporter on home games.

-- ESPN will open its "Sunday Night Baseball" series with the Chicago White Sox at Texas at 7 p.m. Sunday. The new Sunday Night crew of Dan Shulman, Orel Hershiser and Terry Francona will provide commentary with Buster Olney reporting. ESPN's "Monday Night Baseball" schedule begins with Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee at 7 p.m. Monday (Sean McDonough, Rick Sutcliffe, Aaron Boone and reporter Tim Kurkjian).

-- TBS will begin its 26-game MLB schedule with N.Y. Yankees at Tampa Bay at 12:30 p.m. Sunday (Ernie Johnson and John Smoltz).

-- ESPNU will air the OU at Texas A&M baseball game at 3:30 p.m. Saturday (Dari Nowkhah and Mike Rooney).

-- ESPN's telecast of the NCAA women's basketball final, Baylor's 80-61 victory over Notre Dame, on Tuesday night averaged a 3.2 rating and 4,244,000 viewers. It is the network's highest-rated and most-viewed NCAA women's final since 2004. Overall, the tournament (1.4 average rating) was ESPN's second most-viewed behind last year.

-- "MLB Player Poll," a series created by Major League Baseball Productions, will debut at 2 p.m. Saturday on KOKH-25. It will provide answers to questions from players such as, "Who is the most intimidating hitter?" The results of each week's poll will be culled from surveys taken by hundreds of players.

-- Jim Nantz, covering his 27th Masters for CBS, looks back at the 1987 tournament in a one-hour special at noon Sunday. Nantz revisits one of the most memorable and improbable finishes in Masters history when Augusta-native Larry Mize chipped in for birdie from 140 feet away on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff against the world's two best players, Greg Norman and Seve Ballesteros.
