BRIEF: Weis to speak in Dodge City at KU alumni event

Apr 13, 2012 (The Garden City Telegram - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- New University of Kansas football coach Charlie Weis will be the featured speaker at Saturday's Jayhawk Stampede, an annual Kansas Alumni Association event in western Kansas. The event will be held in Dodge City at United Wireless Arena/Magouirk Conference Center.

The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. with dinner to be served at 6:30 p.m.

Weis, who was hired late in 2011 after KU fired Turner Gill, has been putting his Jayhawk gridders through spring drills in the last couple of weeks.

Events through the evening include a live auction that will include an autographed football by coach Weis, a basketball autographed by the 2011-2012 KU men's national runner-up team; and a fall football weekend package that includes two KU football tickets, a one-night stay at a Kansas City-area Marriott and two Kansas City Chiefs tickets. Other items also will be available in the silent auction.
