AlienVault Gives Mimecast Control and Visibility Over its Endpoint Devices

CAMPBELL, Calif. & LONDON --(Business Wire)--

AlienVault (News - Alert), creator of OSSIM - the de facto standard open source SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), today confirmed how it has helped Mimecast gain valuable insight into the security events occurring on their grid. AlienVault's OSSIM powered Unified Security Management Platform gives Mimecast an overview, compiled together in a control panel, that delivers visibility of what is happening in all its distributed data centers and remote devices. On top of the basic key service AlienVault's solution also offers vulnerability scanning, executive reporting and network management.

From the start it was evident that AlienVault's Unified Security Management Platform would significantly benefit Mimecast as, during the proof of concept stage, it was already able to identify and follow up on security related events. In addition, AlienVault's fully unified security architecture allows Mimecast to demonstrate it has control and visibility over its endpoint devices, helping it to achieve ISO 27001 certification.

Mimecast's Group Information Security Officer, Mark O'Hare, said "From the start it was evident that AlienVault's OSSIM powered Unified Security Management Platform would benefit our client based service platform significantly. Since deployment, we have been able toe many of the visibility, threat management and compliance issues we face that previously posed a challenge. The solution provides consolidated log management, consolidated security event and incident managment, real time threat analysis, real time event and incident analysis, all with configurable alerting. We're so convinced by its potential that we plan to extend its use across our corporate environment."

To drive the project forward Mark O'Hare became AlienVault certified. In doing so, he was able to get an in depth understanding of how the components fit together, how it works, and its capabilities, including how to scale and tune it to use it to its fullest advantage. This allows Mimecast not only to configure the solution to solve the problem at the forefront, but also identify other areas that hadn't previously been considered, ultimately ensuring a more robust implementation.

About AlienVault:

AlienVault is the creator of OSSIM, the de facto standard open source SIEM, which powers the AlienVault Unified Security Management(TM) (AV-USM) Platform. AV-USM has five essential security capabilities built in - asset discovery, vulnerability assessment, threat detection, behavioral monitoring and security intelligence - to dramatically reduce the cost of visibility that is required for regulatory compliance and effective threat management. The AlienVault Open Threat Exchange(TM) (AV-OTX) for collaborative defense further reduces costs and improves visibility for 18,000 OSSIM deployments and AlienVault customers around the globe. The privately held company is headquartered in Silicon Valley. For more information visit www.AlienVault.com or follow us onĀ Twitter.
