Emulex OneCommand® Vision Works with System Center 2012
Apr 19, 2012 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Microsoft Management Summit, LAS VEGAS, and COSTA MESA, Calif., -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced the OneCommand® Vision support for the new Microsoft System Center 2012, a cloud and data center management solution that provides a common toolset to manage private and public cloud applications and services. OneCommand Vision, an intelligent I/O management application enabling greater I/O reliability, availability and performance, provides users of the Operations Manager component of System Center with a single point to manage their infrastructure.
"As virtualization drives up infrastructure utilization and cloud computing significantly increases the amount of resource-sharing among private and public cloud applications, I/O availability and performance are stressed, potentially creating I/O bottlenecks throughout the system," said Shaun Walsh, vice president of marketing, Emulex. "OneCommand Vision with System Center 2012 solves the I/O 'blind spot' with immediate I/O performance and availability monitoring and single-pane-of-glass management." OneCommand Vision and System Center 2012 target increasing server and application performance and availability while decreasing operational expenses. OneCommand Vision takes its unique view of automating and monitoring I/O performance and availability from the application and allows System Center 2012 users the same view, along with historical performance database and intelligent alert analytics.
"System Center 2012 is designed to give customers the benefits of Microsoft's extensive experience with the cloud to help them manage IT from virtualization to public, private, and hybrid cloud environments," said Sergio Klarreich, Director Strategic Alliances, Management and Security Division, Microsoft Corp. "With the addition of Emulex OneCommand Vision to System Center 2012, customers can gain additional I/O performance monitoring within the System Center management experience." OneCommand Vision simplifies the management of complex I/O environments and provides end-to-end I/O performance visibility from the application's perspective. OneCommand Vision's non-intrusive software architecture and interoperability with Emulex and non-Emulex adapters, delivers I/O performance and availability data for base-lining, tracking, alerting and troubleshooting complex performance problems.
Emulex OneCommand Vision provides the following additional features and benefits: "Application View" of Performance Management : OneCommand Vision is the first solution to monitor I/O performance from the application's perspective, across heterogeneous storage environments. OneCommand Vision exposes disruptions unseen by solutions that simply monitor downstream storage infrastructure components by providing end-to-end performance management that covers 100% of the I/O path, identifying, for example, misconfigured multipathing software that results in unused, yet expensive, redundant paths. I/O Service Level Agreement Management : OneCommand Vision establishes and manages I/O availability and performance service level agreements (SLAs) from the application's perspective, including situations where storage infrastructure is outsourced to a third party, creating SLAs that are based on real-world historical performance information for each environment. Intelligent Reports and Alerts : OneCommand Vision automates early issue detection, using Intelligent Alerting capabilities, view dashboards, and reports. Administrators can quickly assess I/O availability and performance across the entire infrastructure or focus in on a specific group within the environment, reducing time to resolution along with operational expenses. Analytics and Correlation Engine (ACE) : This capability expedites problem resolution by combining I/O availability and performance data with advanced forensic capability, to reduce operational costs while increasing I/O performance and availability. ACE also allows users to detect performance issues and relate them to infrastructure hot spots, exposing potential oversubscription in the server, network and storage domains.
