Product Previews [Manufacturing Engineering]
(Manufacturing Engineering Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Miniature Solid-Carbide Thread Mills Miniature solid-carbide thread mills are designed for machining difficult materials such as stainless steels, titanium, Kmonel, Hastelloy, and lnconel for medical, aerospace, energy, defense, and computer industry applications. Thread mills eliminate the need for hand tapping during full bottom threading applications, which can be performed to within one pitch. Pitch diameter and precise thread depth are easily controlled to 2xD so that one tool can be used for both through and blind holes. Thread mills are offered in overall lengths of 1 5/8' (41-mm) lengths with 1/8'' (3.175-mm) diameters, and 2 1/2'' (63.5-mm) lengths with shank diameters of 1/4'' (6.35 mm). Various thread sizes and cutting diameters are offered.

This unique clamping design also protects the cutting edges that are not in use. Gold-Flex is available in widths from 0.020 to 0.125" (0.5-3.18 mm) in versatile TT9080 grade. Lead angles and full radius inserts are also available as standard items.
Ingersoll Cutting Tools Ph: 815-387-6600 Web site: www.ingersoll-imc.com 0.1 -pm Resolution Micrometer Digimatic digital micrometer uses the Absolute rotary sensor (patent pending) to achieve 0.1-pm resolution, high-accuracy measurement in a convenient hand-held tool. The sensor reduces instrument error to ±0.5pm to deliver high accuracy with no trade off in operability. The Absolute system eliminates the need to reset the origin each time power is turned on, enabling measurement immediately on start-up. Also, the measurement origin can be preset to any value within the display range to reduce setup time and improve repeatability. The display can be zeroed at any position, making comparison measurement easier, and display resolution can be switched to 0.5 pm if 0.1-pm measurement isn't required.
Mitutoyo America Corp.
Ph: 630-820-9666 Web site: www.mitutoyo.com Fourth-Axis Rotary Table Option Hardinge fourth-axis rotary tables increase the machine capability with rapid positioning speeds and fast job changeover for Bridgeport GX 1000 OSP high-performance machining centers. GX 1000 OSP incorporates the Okuma OSP P200 CNC control, encoders, motors, and drives. Walter USA LLC Ph: 800-945-5554 Web site: www.walter-tools.com/us Digital Laser Scanner Because of its solid-state laser scanner technology, an innovative calibration method and Nikon lens, the LC15DX solid state achieves a probing accuracy of 2.5 pm (0.0001") and a multi-stylus test accuracy of 6 pm (0.00024") in tests comparable to EN/10360-2 and -5. A unique thermal stabilizer inside the scanner body eliminates the uncertainty and delay caused when scanning before it reaches operating temperature. Probe-tip compensation errors are also eliminated by using non-contact triangulation between the laser source, workpiece and CCD sensor to measure the surface of the workpiece directly.
Nikon Metrology Inc.
Ph: 810-220^360 Web site: www.nikonmetrology.com Waterjet Pump Units Company's 125 Series convertible waterjet pump units are now convertible to ultra-high pressures. Using company's conversion kit, all models can be converted in about 20 min to any of eight operating pressures, from 6000 to 40,000 psi (414-2800 bar). This flexibility is enhanced by the range of flows (4.4-32.5 gpm; 16.5-123 l/min) and a choice of engines, 125 or 145 hp (93 kW or 108 kW).
