Feb 07, 2013 (AME Info - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- SAMSUNG'S UAE SALES GREW 340 percent IN 2012: Samsung Electronics has said its telecoms business in the Gulf region has witnessed another record quarter, Gulf News has reported. The South Korean firm recorded a 214 percent increase year-on-year in mobile-device sales for 2012, driven by the Galaxy S3, Note 2 and comprehensive portfolio of mid-range mobiles and media tablets. In the UAE alone, Samsung recorded a 340 percent increase in year-on-year within mobile communication devices sales, the report said.

Z10 SALES SET RECORDS FOR BLACKBERRY: BlackBerry Inc. has said that the launches of the Z10 smartphone in the UK and Canadian markets have set records for the launch of a new BlackBerry device. The launch of the touchscreen Z10 in Canada on Tuesday "was more than 50 percent better than any other launch day in our history in Canada," said CEO Thorsten Heins. "We have seen close to three times our best performance ever for the first week of sales for a BlackBerry smartphone," he said.
