BUYINS.NET: Market Maker Surveillance Report. GE, SIRI, MSFT, PHOT, MJNA, ZNGA, Highest Net Sell Volume and Negative Price Friction For Thursday, February 21st 2013
(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4014 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1704 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3708 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Thursday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. General Electric Co (NYSE:GE), Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), Phototron Holdings Inc (OTC:PHOT), Medical Marijuana Inc (OTC:MJNA), Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below: Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction GE $-0.150 -0.64% 12,051,468 25.43% 17,306,227 36.51% -5,254,759 -350,317 SIRI $-0.040 -1.26% 37,780,206 47.05% 42,508,435 52.94% -4,728,229 -1,182,057 MSFT $-0.320 -1.15% 22,530,095 46.51% 25,885,211 53.44% -3,355,116 -104,847 PHOT $-0.014 -18.37% 2,899,770 28.65% 7,222,041 71.35% -4,322,271 -3,201,682 MJNA $-0.067 -23.18% 12,761,075 35.54% 23,144,690 64.46% -10,383,615 -1,549,793 ZNGA $-0.130 -4.22% 22,374,176 46.53% 25,681,141 53.41% -3,306,965 -254,382 Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows GE down $-0.15000 with a Friction Factor of -350,317 and a Net Volume of -5,254,759. That means that it takes 350,317 more shares of selling than buying to drop GE by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
