Endace Announces Launch of 100G Network Monitoring Headend System


The adaption of 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100G) by organizations has always been very slow, as getting visibility into 100G network segments has been next to impossible, till date, with lack of apt and secure monitoring and troubleshooting solutions.

In an effort to address this issue and to provide clear visibility of 100G networks to IT operations teams, Endace, a provider of intelligent network recording and network visibility infrastructure, has launched a new 100G-capable network visibility headend, EndaceAccess 100.

Available immediately, the new EndaceAccess 100 is a 100G and 40G-capable headend system that facilitates organizations to get the network access that they require to monitor, analyze, protect and troubleshoot 100G network segments.

Spencer Greene, senior vice president, product management and marketing at Endace, said in a statement, “The EndaceAccess 100 enables organizations to leverage their existing 10 Gbps capable tools in a 100G environment.”

Greene added, “Previously, when the world moved from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps networking, the ability to leverage existing tools in this way proved to be a major advantage for organizations, and we expect this to be the case as organizations make the natural transition from 10 Gbps to 40G and 100G networking.”

Interoperable with any 10 Gbps capable monitoring or security tool, including the company’s own range of Intelligent Network Recorders, the new EndaceAccess 100 can also be configured to support LAN or WAN protocols, thereby making it ideal for deployment in both the data center and WAN environments.

As a provider of intelligent network recording and visibility infrastructure, Endace empowered the new headend system with the company’s DAG technology. Enabling organizations to continue to use their existing 10 Gbps monitoring and security tools, it not only eases the transition from 10 Gbps to 100G, but also provides support for two 100G or 40G monitoring ports.

The EndaceAccess 100 ‘s support for two 100G or 40G monitoring ports are configured to capture traffic from both sides of a bidirectional link, in two rack-units. Traffic from each monitoring port is distributed in a flow-safe way across 12 ports of 10 Gbps, thereby allowing the system to scale to support full line-rate 100G.

Leveraging the load balancing algorithm, the EndaceAccess 100 headend, like traditional monitoring switches, receives high-speed network traffic from passive optical taps and distributes the traffic to multiple lower-speed ports, which can then be connected to scale-out clusters of monitoring tools.

As quoted by Endace, the load balancing algorithm used in the EndaceAccess 100 headend facilitates captured traffic to be directed to specific egress ports by flow and guarantees 100 percent accuracy at 100G.

In addition, Endace also quoted that EndaceAccess 100 scales everything up by a factor of ten, receiving 100G or 40G inputs and distributing to multiple 10 Gbps destinations where the traffic can be analyzed.
