Virtual Instruments Certifies Corning's Pretium EDGE Tap Module

Virtual Instruments has certified the working of Pretium EDGE Tap Module from Corning (News - Alert) Cable Systems with VirtualWisdom solution devices. Pretium EDGE Tap Module is a submissive traffic access point that incorporates effortlessly into the Pretium EDGE structured cabling offering. Virtual Instruments verified that the Tap Module monitor output can operated with both the SAN Performance Probe and SAN Insight Rover, guaranteeing defect-free access to the Fiber Channel SAN traffic at line rate.

In a statement, Skip Bacon, CTO, Virtual Instruments, said, "Our customers continue to validate that comprehensive, accurate, and timely monitoring from the physical layer is the best way to optimize infrastructure performance. The visibility enabled by a tap is the foundation from which customers can gain a detailed view into performance across the physical, virtual and cloud layers. It's an honor to work with Corning to help our mutual customers streamline the deployment of taps in the physical layer infrastructure."

Stuart Hoiness, Senior VP, Enterprise Networks, Corning Cable Systems, said, "We are delighted to be working with Virtual Instruments to demonstrate the value of our passive tapping solution with their systems. Virtual Instruments is the undisputed Fibre Channel network performance leader, so it's very important to us and to customers to show the compatibility of our two product sets."

Instantaneous, full line rate tracking of the tapped links is possible as the monitor outputs from the Pretium EDGE Tap Module are attached directly to Virtual Instruments SAN Performance Probe. After all the frames are scrutinized by the SAN Performance Probe, it creates hundreds of metrics every second, offering complete insight into the performance, wellbeing, and usage of the SAN. These metrics are merged by the VirtualWisdom offering with metrics obtained from other VirtualWisdom Probes.
