General Dynamics Broadband Supports Xilinx Zynq-7000 Family

General Dynamics (News - Alert) Broadband has delivered its OKL4 Microvisor software development kit (SDK) to support the Xilinx Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC family of devices.

The OKL4 Microvisor from General Dynamics Broadband is an embedded virtualization platform for mobile security and automotive applications, and the OKL4 SDK for Zynq-7000 AP SoCs provides defense-grade security for mission-critical software and sensitive data against destructive program code and other malware.

General Dynamics Broadband provides embedded virtualization software for mobile and connected devices.

Its OKL4 Microvisor SDK for Xilinx (News - Alert) Zynq-7000 family of products enables the integration of diverse software stacks on a single processor, incorporation of unique operating systems for system control and application hosting on a single SoC, simultaneous hosting of multiple popular embedded operating systems, and guaranteed high performance with fast booting and runtime rebooting of individual cells.

"Our ability to support the Xilinx Zynq-7000 family builds upon the successful use of the OKL4 Microvisor in the aerospace, defense and automotive markets," said Steve Subar, vice president and general manager of Secure Mobility for General Dynamics Broadband. 

The Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC delivers very high levels of system performance, flexibility and scalability, combining the software programmability of a processor with the hardware programmability of an FPGA (field-programmable gate array).

This solution also provides system benefits in terms of power reduction, lower cost with fast time to market.

"The OKL4 Microvisor SDK and the Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC are ideal for applications requiring advanced system control together with sophisticated signal processing," said Larry Getman, vice president of Processing Platforms for Xilinx.

Xilinx was recently in the news for announcing its fourth-generation secure architecture with Information Assurance and Anti-Tamper IP core support, for defense-grade 7 series FPGAs and Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoCs.
