Canada-based telecommunications provider Videotron (News - Alert) has upgraded its current TOMS (Telecom Operations and Management Solution) software to the latest NetCracker Technology release.
This upgrade will help Videotron enhance its network mapping capabilities and the utilization of network resources, such as physical assets and logical connections. The new functionality enhancement is expected to improve operational efficiency cost-effectively in maintaining Videotron’s network.
“This upgrade will enable us to further increase the return on our network investment by ensuring the highest level of capacity and asset utilization,” said Pierre Roy Porretta, Videotron’s vice-president engineering, research and development.
Officials said the NetCracker’s (News - Alert) professional services team will upgrade the software and enable Videotron to manage its network infrastructure efficiently. NetCracker Technology specializes in BSS/OSS solutions which includes billing, customer care, online rating and charging, resource and network management, IT platforms, besides professional services like managed services and end-to-end outsourcing.
“Through projects like this, NetCracker has proven to be a strategic business partner, providing us with solutions and technical expertise that help optimize our networks and future proof our product lines,” Porretta added.
NetCracker and Videotron have collaborated before in launching and supporting new services and offerings such as quad-play bundles. NetCracker has also completed a data migration of Videotron’s circuit inventory.
Sylvain Seignour, NetCracker’s vice president, Americas and Europe, pointed out that Videotron will leverage NetCracker’s products and professional services to enhance infrastructure management capabilities.
“I am confident that this upgrade will be another successful step forward as our combined project teams position Videotron for greater competitive differentiation, stronger customer satisfaction, and enhanced profitability,” Seignour noted.
Dutch provider Ziggo and NetCracker Technology recently signed a multiyear licensing, support and maintenance contract in July 2012 to implement NetCracker’s Smart Revenue Solutions. This innovative BSS platform will update and adapt Ziggo’s (News - Alert) core systems to support new services.
