New Frost & Sullivan Report Says Fortinet is a Leader in UTM Market for 5th Consecutive Year


According to a new report from Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) titled, "Analysis of the Global Unified Threat Management (UTM) Market: Enterprise Features and Product Value Propel Market Growth," leading provider of high-performance network security solutions, Fortinet (News - Alert), has successfully managed to hold on to its market leadership position within the global Unified Threat Management (UTM) market for the fifth consecutive year. The report highlights that Fortinet accounted for 20.5 percent of global 2011 UTM market revenue.

In a statement, Chris Rodriguez, senior industry analyst, Network Security with Frost & Sullivan and co-author of the UTM market report, said that, "UTM products are in demand in all vertical industries and globally. The UTM market is a high-growth market that is forecasted to grow at an annual rate of 17.3 percent from 2011 to 2016."

Frost & Sullivan defines a UTM product to be a multi-function, next generation firewall solution featuring stateful inspection; next-generation firewall (NGFW); intrusion prevention system (IPS); virtual private networking (VPN); gateway anti-virus (AV); anti-spam; and Web content filtering.

Fortinet’s FortiOS 5 has further enhanced the functionality of its entire unified threat management (UTM) product line by introducing capabilities which include -        

  • A Single Point of Policy, Reporting, and Log Management, which enable effective management of distributed networks across multiple security applications. Customers are provided with appliance, virtual machine and cloud deployment options which make it easy for them to opt for a model ideal within their environment.
  • A Full Suite of Security Technologies, which include NGFW, SSL and IPsec VPN, in addition to application control, IPS, Web content filtering and gateway anti-malware. FortiOS 5 also features on-device sandboxing, IP reputation management that is cloud-based, antivirus (AV), integrated wireless access controller and anti-spam, WAN optimization, anti-DDoS, vulnerability, and identity management and DLP.
  • Fortinet’s FortiOS 5 comes with the Broadest Set of Models at Industry Leading Price-Points, which help optimize performance and offer improved security. The company’s high-end models come with multiple discrete processors that support high throughput for all applications while ensuring a balance in the price/performance equation at the low end via a custom system-on-a-chip (SoC) that packs multiple processor functionalities within one single, cost-effective, processor.
