WebNMS Awarded Best M2M Platform for Service Providers

Day by day, our world is becoming more connected. Machine to Machine (M2M) is about enabling the flow of data between different machines and ultimately machines and people. It enables real-time monitoring for almost any industry; healthcare, telematics, energy, financial services and telecommunications are all popular adopters of the technology. WebNMS, a network management division of Zoho (News - Alert) Corporation, offers a framework for M2M to monitor and control passive infrastructure and to operate large networks of devices.

WebNMS’ M2M framework is a carrier-grade network and M2M management platform designed to be extended to match equipment vendors and M2M solution provider’s requirements. The platform is customizable and can run in on-premises or in a cloud environment.

At the recently held ITEXPO (News - Alert) Miami, the WebNMS platform was recognized with the “Best M2M Platform for Service Providers” award at Battle of the Platforms, an opportunity for the top players in the industry to showcase excellence in M2M and how their platform addresses business challenges while reducing costs, improving efficiencies and driving profitability.

The award honors WebNMS’ platform for its rapid deployment addressing business needs with flexible, scalable and reliable implementations that provisions to reduce complexity and effort in integration.

Prabhu Ramachandran, director, WebNMS, said, “WebNMS is proud to have been awarded in the M2M communications space. The adoption of M2M applications requires solid platforms on which application developers can quickly build solutions themselves. The WebNMS M2M platform offers support for several communication protocols like SNMP, SOAP, XML, REST and HTTPS, and has an extensive set of APIs for developing custom applications. This prestigious recognition is an acknowledgement to the excellence and superiority of WebNMS’ M2M framework.”

The WebNMS M2M platform is best suited for service providers because of its comprehensive APIs, high-performance and high-scale architecture and multiprotocol and multivendor support. Its comprehensive list of APIs can be used by third party application developers to build tailor-made M2M application, and has already been customized by hundreds of telecom equipment vendors to build their network management applications.

For more than 15 years, WebNMS has been deployed in telecom service provider networks across the globe more than 25,000 times. Customers can easily manage very large networks for devices and machines with highly available systems.

Ramachandran explained that service providers have hundreds of thousands of devices they need to manage for performance and scalability. WebNMS’ platform is suited for service providers; for example, it offers cell tower monitoring within the platform’s capabilities, which is designed to monitor cell site performance around the clock and provide real-time information to site managers. The massive growth in the telecom industry with cellular tower sharing by multiple service providers offers a big challenge for advanced cell site monitoring software.

The Cell Tower Manager ensures increased uptime with reduced outages, saving in CapEx and OpEx, instant alerts through SMS or e-mail, security with region-wise site access, data logging for better performance visibility and energy efficient reports. WebNMS captures and displays the operating metrics of input power, generator, air conditioners and surveillance in an easy-to-use client interface.
