BeyondTrust recently released findings from its latest survey, Virtual Insecurity. According to the survey, organizations with any types of security requirements are increasingly depending on virtualization vendors for security.
According to the survey, 42 percent of the respondents typically do not utilize security tools as a component of their virtual systems management. Nearly 34 percent of the respondents completely depend on an antivirus protection as their major security solution. Current image templates are normally used by 57 percent of the respondents for latest virtual images. According to 75 percent of the respondents, at least 25 percent of virtual guests are offline at any instance of time. Nearly 64 percent of respondents admitted to not having any security controls defined even though a security sign off is mandatory before making public a latest virtual image of template.
In a statement, Brad Hibbert, vice president, product strategy and operations, BeyondTrust, said, “It’s surprising with all of the technological advancements in the virtualization space that server admins are reliant on antiquated security solutions and are unknowingly conducting day-to-day tasks that are incrementally increasing the risk to their organization.”
BeyondTrust has unveiled Retina Plug-in for VMware vCenter in order to tackle the challenges recognized in the survey. Network susceptibilities can now be efficiently spotted and fixed by the latest solution, which offers the required incorporated protection and susceptibility administration tools.
Hibbert said, “With Retina Plug-in for vCenter, we are bringing security context to admins by integrating comprehensive vulnerability assessment into a familiar management console. Our tight integration with VMware provides simplified security views for the datacenter operations team ensuring virtual environments are safe and compliant.”
Organization can protect their network with Retina Plug-in for VMware vCenter as all the resources administered by the vCenter server can be discovered in a precise manner. The latest solution carries out wide-ranging susceptibility scanning with thorough risk intelligence for ESXi and virtual machines. The solution offers exclusive capabilities to scan online and offline virtual machines along with virtual application templates. The solution also offers a computerized audit feed of most recent susceptibilities that could possibly impact the hyper-visor and virtual machines.
